Hi friends…

I am putting my photographic note cards, greeting cards, bookmarks and prints on www.etsy.com.  Was going to create my own web site, but then…why reinvent the wheel.  Just started loading info on the site today and will have dozens more items in the days, weeks and months ahead.  You can check it out now at https://www.etsy.com/shop/ManInTheMoonCards?ref=si_shop, but please stop back from time to time for additional items.

More fiction and poetry to come soon…

Well, apologies to all for my hiatus.  I have been writing, but working on short stories to submit to literary magazines.  I can’t publish them here until, and if, they reject my efforts.  I’m in limbo.  However, I can post anything else I want and I did promise a couple of stories…shorter, but no less entertaining I hope.

What else have I been doing?  Well…reading and writing Amazon reviews, roaming the county for new photographs, trivia once a week, wine-tasting, trying out new bread recipes, creating new note cards for Man In The Moon, and, of course, my job.

Today is a beautiful day in Gettysburg and Adams County.  I’m going to start by posting a photograph.  Give me a minute.

Gettysburg Festival

I will get back to stories and poetry soon, but need to take the opportunity today to promote the annual Gettysburg Festival.  If you’ve never attended, you’ve missed a great event.  Nine days of events for all ages in and around our little historic town of Gettysburg…musical entertainment, tours, art events, culinary events, exhibitions, singing, story-telling, fife and drums, brass bands, theatre, garden tours, events for children and all the usual fun things to do in Gettysburg.  Most of the Festival events are free.  Come with good walking shoes and lawn chairs in the car.   Events are outdoors and indoors, all around the town…

Check out the link here or on the sidebar:  http://www.gettysburgfestival.org  You will find a complete schedule of events for this year as well as a great photo gallery from past festivals.  Don’t miss it.

I friend of mine asked me if my story about selling the haunted house was true, and I answered…Every Word!   I know some people don’t believe in ghosts, but I do and I have my reasons – many of them.

Speaking of ghosts, I saw the most amazing video last week.  It was a jaw-dropper – stunning.  I would love to get a copy to share with all of you, but it doesn’t belong to me and was shown to me by a third party…a friend of mine.  We were having drinks at a Realtor function last Wednesday night.  She pulled out her phone to show me what another friend had emailed to her.  Said friend had been out on the battlefield with her young son.  It appeared to be evening.  They were at the site of Pickett’s Charge, and she had her video camera.  Her son started asking her to take pictures of the men there.  She didn’t see anyone in the area, but her son was very excited and begged her to videotape the men.  To keep him happy, she just started filming and scanned back and forth over the area he was pointing to.  She saw nothing – until she played the video back.

This is what was on the video – what I saw and replayed several times because it was just so amazing, amazing and unbelievable.  She had been panning the camera across open ground with a treeline in the background.  In front of and along the treeline, I would estimate at about 75 to 100 yards, there were several figures moving leisurely about.  They were totally white, not as in amorphous blobs, but seen on the video as complete and crystalline forms.  They were men with heads, bodies, arms, hands, legs, feet  – and they were moving…walking.   I saw this video a week ago, and the memory of it will not leave me.  I’m well aware its existence defies logic…but, what is logic?  According to the dictionary, logic is the science of correct or reliable reasoning.  So who has dictated what is correct?  What is reliable reasoning?  We used to think the world was flat…that was once thought correct and reliable.

Gettysburg Dedication Day is the annual anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.  This is held every year on November 19.  We always have a VIP speaker, a well-known politician, celebrity, etc.  In the past, we have had Colin Powell,  Sandra Day O’Connor, Tom Ridge, Tom Brokaw, William Rehnquist (when he was Supreme Court Chief Justice), Ken Burns and numerous other luminaries.  It was recently announced that director Steven Spielberg will be the Dedication Day speaker for November 19, 2012.  I expect Spielberg will be a huge draw to the always popular event.  I don’t always attend, but I may have to this year.  If you are coming, you should probably book a hotel asap if you plan to stay overnight.  I know it’s November, but Gettysburg is busy almost all months of the year, and it is beautiful in the fall.
